Lee Robinson
Founder, CIO and Portfolio Manager of Altana Opportunities Fund

Lee Robinson is the founder of Altana Wealth (London and Monaco).Prior to launching Altana, Lee co-founded Trafalgar and was CIO of Trafalgar Catalyst Fund and Trafalgar Special Situations Fund. He also worked for 3 years at Tudor Capital, where he was senior manager responsible for building an impressive Global Equity Risk Arbitrage portfolio. Prior to that he worked at Deutsche Bank, Bankers Trust and Paribas in trading both equity derivatives and credit derivatives.

Lee developed a unique risk system at Tudor, which he brought successfully to Trafalgar. He is experienced in innovative trade construction using options and credit products. Moreover, he predicted the credit crisis in 2007-2009 and subsequent Sovereign crises. As a result, he traded profitably in 2008 including trades that successfully hedged against the deterioration of the financial system, the Iceland default, sub prime mortgages and the weakening of the European Banks. Lee has a BA in Mathematics from Cambridge University and is co-author of the book "The Gathering Storm".

Altana Opportunities Fund (AOF) Launched Nov 2011

A liquid fund which aims to profit from unloved or distressed assets which are in forced selling situations or are trading at low multiples of mid cycle earnings or fundamentally undervalued. Given lowest multiples are in Europe and it is entering a seismic change, we expect European corporates to form the bulk of the portfolio.

Ian Gunner
Director and Portfolio Manager of Altana Hard Currency Fund

Ian has 25 years experience formulating strategies in currency and bond markets involving macro analysis of the global economy, research into cross-border financial flows and implementation of market timing indicators for trading signals.

He has held senior research and FX strategy roles at Chase Manhattan, SBC Warburg, ABN Amro and Mellon Financial Corp. Ian studied for an MA in Economics at Manchester University.

Altana Hard Currency Fund (AHCF) Launched Oct 2010

The Fund aims to increase and protect the value of real wealth by optimally investing in a diversified group of hard currencies including Gold. We classify currencies as ‘strong’ or ‘weak’ on the basis of a country’s relative strength in public finances, the balance of payments, monetary policy and the domestic financial system.

Alex Krainer
Portfolio Manager of Altana Inflation Trends Fund

Alex has a continuous track record managing a CTA managed futures business since 2007. Prior to that he was responsible for a financial and commodities derivatives risk management and trading business, called Galstar Derivatives Trading Ltd. 

Alex graduated from the American College of Switzerland  with a BA in Business Administration (Magna Cum Laude).

Altana Inflation Trends Fund (AITF) Launched Nov 2011

The fund employs a CTA/Managed Futures strategy with about 2/3rds of risk concentrated in a subset of commodity futures expected to move the most in an inflationary environment, but will also follow deflationary trends when these prevail. The fund aims to protect investors’ capital by profiting from large-scale price dislocations in commodities and financial markets through systematic trend-following strategies.

Stevan Bajic
Portfolio Manager of Altana Corporate Bonds Fund

Stevan has extensive experience in credit analysis and portfolio management. He has a 4 year audited track record as IG Portfolio Manager and won a Lipper Fund Award in 2010. He has strong macro and credit research skills and spent 5yrs covering European and US Corporate Debt.

Stevan’s career began in the Institutional Asset Management department of Bank Sarasin & Cie AG in Switzerland. He graduated with an MSc in Finance from Basel University.

Altana Corporate Bonds Fund (ACBF)Launched Jan 2013

A liquid low cost bond fund (0.75% Total Expense Ratio) whose goal is to generate positive returns in all market phases by investing in a globally diversified corporate bond portfolio. The fund utilises proprietary analytics to better determine risk versus reward across the lifetime of the debt.

Altana Corporate Bonds UCITS Fund Launched May 2014

UCITS version of the successful Cayman fund offering daily liquidity and what is anticipated to be a very low tracking error with the Cayman vehicle. The UCITS Fund is now open to both retail and institutional investors.

Antony Lingard is the chief executive officer of Altana Wealth (based in London).

Antony originally joined Altana Wealth as chief operating officer in early 2011 when the company started in business, growing the headcount from 2 to 9 people and launching the various Altana funds. He is a proven leader/manager and business-builder with over 20 years continuous employment in financial services where he gained solid experience through the Asian crisis, dotcom bubble and credit crisis. He also has a strong track record in sales/relationship management.

Prior to joining Altana Wealth, Antony worked for UBS where he was a managing director in Prime Services and head of European Equity Finance. He also worked for Societe Generale in various locations such as London, Hong Kong and Japan as head of Equity Finance within the Equity Derivatives department. He has also worked for Paribas Capital Markets on the Equity Finance desk in London and Singapore.

Antony has a B.A. (Hons) from the University of Liverpool. He currently holds the following FCA controlled functions : CF1, CF3 & CF30, as well as being an NFA Series 32 qualified.

Mark Engelbrecht
Chief Financial Officer

Mark was formerly Head of Fund Accounting and Finance at Trafalgar Asset Managers, where he worked for 4 and a half years. Prior to that he worked for Fortis Prime Fund Solutions, a hedge fund administrator based in the Cayman Islands.

He is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Neil Panchen
Chief Technology Officer

Neil has 20 years experience implementing and running front office trading and risk management systems in FX, Commodities and Equity Derivatives. Held senior IT positions at Deutsche Bank (Euromoney Survey No. 1 FX bank – generating 1bn revenue) as Global Head of Commodities IT and Global Head of FX IT through 2008.

He implemented the IT infrastructure for the FX Exotics, FX Forwards and Precious Metals businesses. Neil graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge with a BA in Computer Science and from the University of Washington, Seattle with a BA in Business Administration.
